While getting ready to see this flick, do yourself a favor and experience Walt Simonson's terrific run on Marvel's version of Thor!
Walt Simonson was born on September 2, 1946, and won an award for outstanding new talent in 1973. He has worked for Marvel and DC on titles such as the legendary Manhunter feature in Detective Comics, Battlestar Galactica, Orion, Fantastic Four, Star Slammers, and many more...
When he took over as writer and artist of The Mighty Thor with issue 337, he literally broke the mold. His first issue became an instant classic with the introduction of Beta Ray Bill, the tragic protector of a doomed race wandering the stars. Beta Ray Bill was worthy to possess the power of Thor, and became a romantic rival for the Lady Sif, while becoming a faithful friend and comrade in arms to Thor himself.
Simonson's run was dynamic and exciting. He mixed great art, great writing, humor, action, and adventure. His run focused on Thor's Asgardian heritage.
If you haven't seen it, you're in for a treat!
